The core is a suffix commonly added to words used to describe music. Stemming from the term Hardcore, bands like Operation Ivywere called "Ska-Core." Their sound was like Ska, but edgier and more advanced. Thus the 'Core' was born, and bands went on to put as many words as one could think of in front of 'Core.' Emo-Core, Metal-Core, Lounge-Core, and so on. Medio-Core would be a term used to describe a band that taking being shitty to a new level.
